Mukiwa History

Mukiwa Accounting Services launched in 2010 when Steve Betts struggled to find a business that offered the tailored and innovative services he aspired to provide for clients. Like many other businesses, out of frustration came an opportunity, and Mukiwa Accounting Services was born.

While we started from humble beginnings in Steve’s bedroom office, Mukiwa now occupies office space in the iconic Lifestyle Centre on Sydney’s northern beaches. Since we started, we’ve grown and evolved to provide an alternative to traditional accounting and bookkeeping services for small-medium businesses all under one roof.

Over the years the team has expanded to ten educated and skilled individuals who embrace our culture and love the flexible environment that Mukiwa offers. In 2018 we expanded to our first off-shore team member who is an integral part of our team – our clients love what we do, no matter where we do it from!

People often ask us ‘what does Mukiwa mean’?

Well, literally translated ‘Mukiwa’ means ‘boy from Africa’. Mukiwa’s founder, Steve Betts, grew up in Zimbabwe where he attended St George’s College. The school appeared in the very famous movie The Power of One – but it was a book called Mukiwa, written by another former St George’s student, that gave Steve the idea for his business name.
